2. Mahatmas - New Bhaktacharitras Each Month

India is the holy land with so many bhaktas (devotees). When we go through the Indian history, there must be a bhakta in every period. That is the greatness of this sacred land. Bhaktas are the role model for all the bonded souls. They enjoy their life in a perfect way. Bhaktas surrender themselves to the Lotus feet of Lord. By hearing or reading bhaktas' divine story, the bonded soul is enlightened to come out of the worldwide bondages.

RadheKrishna! Sincere chanting and listening to the great stories of devotees will surely give a peace of mind to everybody, even in this 21st century. So many people think that listening to the devotee's stories is a waste of time and there is no benefit at all. If somebody wants to realize the power of bagawan, first of all they must listen bhaktha charithram [stories of devotees]. There are so many advantages in listening to baktha charithram.

Bharath is a very special land and contained within it are sacred places and rivers. Devotees born in this sacred Bharath ensure that they propagate bhakti in all corners of the country. This is the precise reason why the fragrance of bhakti can be felt all around our country. Our beloved Guruji has a special reverence for Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and in the coming issues, we will enjoy his bhakthi and the path of devoution that he had set an example for us to follow.

VishnuPriya keeps Chaitanya's feet on her head and enjoys eternal bliss. Nimayee begins to sweat and VishnuPriya wipes the sweat off him. Then Nimayee proceeds to say to her to bless him so that he will have the darshan of the Lord. Nimayee forgets himself such that he does not know what he is saying to whom. Both Nimayee and Vishnupriya chant Krishna through out the night . At times Nimayee behaves like a child and cries for Krishna and at times he longs like an adult and nobody could make out the state that Nimayee was in.

In the morning Nimayee wakes up crying Hari Hari like a mad person and it is in this madness that he had slept through the night. He gets up and falls at this mother's feet and requests her to bless him with the sight of Krishna and the love for Krishna. It does not matter how long we live but those moments that we long for Krishna are alone considered to be our living moments. But Nimayee's mother begins to worry for him and his state. She has already seen her husband die and her elder son taking up a renounced order of life. It seems to be natural that those who give birth to devotees tend to lead a life of sacrifice.

It is very easy for devotees to give up everything and move up but the parents and others have to bear the pain of separation. People begin to come up to Sasimatha and say that Nimayee has been affected by a disease and that it can be cured by medicines. When Nimayee goes to take bath in Ganga, he will fall at the feel of same people whom he had teased in the past and request them to be blessed so that he can enjoy the eternal love of Krishna

RadheKrishna.Hinduism is an ancient religion. All the things that have been spoken in Hindu religion can be applied in practical life. Although in 21st century till everyone can apply this in his or her daily life. The aim of Hindu religion is to provide total happiness to everyone at all times (or any point of time). The essence of Hinduism is told in "Bhagawad Gita". In order to realize what is said in Bhagawad Gita it is a compulsory (must) to have an unconditional faith on Bhagawad Gita. So many people have benefited in their lives because of the (by reading) shlokas of Bhagawad Gita. In Bhagawad Gita, Bhagawan Shri Krishna has told the way to lead a happy life in such an easy way that even a normal layman can easily understand. The slokas are so simple that anyone can understand and use it practically. In the coming months we will enjoy the 12th Chapter of Gita and the devoution towards the Lord as explained by our  beloved Guruji.

As Arjuna was wondering how to submit the mind and surrender the intellect to live with Him, Krishna begins to answer to clear his doubts. Ordinary people who are thinking that everything that they have including wives and children as their own find it difficult to disown and think that everything belongs to the Lord. It is very difficult for people to leave their ego and accept that the Lord is taking care and doing everything. The Lord says that if the ego and ownership can be given up these surrenders are possible.

In case this is not feasible then the Lord says to continuously practice to attain perfection of renunciation. The Lord refers to this practice as abhyasam which means to constantly engage and work towards perfecting ourselves so that we can submit our minds and intellect to the Lord. There are a number of practices possible including doing yoga and pranayama, fasting with a purpose of attaining the Lord, doing yagnas, going to the temples to worship, reciting slokas and doing Abhishekam.

All these practices are not meant to please the Lord but for our intellect to stay focused on the Lord during that period or activities mentioned above. If we try to arrange a yagna or a sacrifice then we begin to collect various things, items and indirectly during the whole processes our minds get attached to the Lord.

RadheKrishna  RadheKrishna..
Perumal Thirumozhi was as a result of Kulasekara azhwar longing to see and enjoy Lord Ranganatha. The Thirumozhi also results from the bhakthi of the azhwar towards Rama and Krishna and he begins with his longing for Lord Ranganatha. Everyone of us have so much of longing for the worldly affairs but the longing and the love for the Lord alone will help us achieve a good state.

Kulasekara azhwar enjoys Lord Ranganatha as Adisheshan in the first two pasurams or songs. Then he enjoys the Lord as enjoyed by Brahma. But the way Gopis enjoyed the Lord is considered to be supreme. This is because the not so intelligent Gopis were fully aware of the strengths of the Lord and believed that Krishna would save them. Of all the avatars,  Krishna avatar is considered to be the best and one that can easily be enjoyed. This was followed by Kulasekara azhwar enjoying how Narada and Tumburu enjoy the Lord. He continues further and sees how the devotees are enjoying the Lord and what items are safeguarding the Lord. Then the azhwar decides to mingle with the devotees and experience how it would be to be part of that group and enjoy the Lord.

The azhwar is wondering  that he is in Vanjikalam and the Lord is in Srirangam and whether he will be able to enjoy Him. No sooner did he think this way, the Lord manifests himself along with all the 33 crore demo gods or devas. The azhwar sees that all the devas surrender to the Lord and await His instructions. The Lord requests the devas to wait as pooja is being conducted and by the time one after the other darshan of the Lord ends the day concludes.

In the process the Lord forgets the sins that the people commit for which the devas were requesting the permission to be dealt with and such is the mercy of the Lord of Srirangam. The Lord along with His consort recommends to Yama and others to forget the sins committed by the people. This is similar to how the children exploit us by asking things when we are in real hurry where we just consent to what they say without having to give second thoughts. This rush is what makes Srirangam unique and this is not true in Vaikundam as there is no nature of time.

In this fast paced world, the Lord is also equally fast in ensuring that His mercy is showered on us as well! We must have this rush in  meeting the Lord like how Gajendra did. Most of us postpone bhakthi thinking that we can do it in our retired years or old age but the trouble is that we dont know when our life ends. It could be at 8 months or at 80 years and we are just pushing ahead without any knowledge of our life.

 The pasuram continues next month..
5. Samarpanam
parithraanaaya sadhoonaam vinasaya cha dhushkrutham
dharma sansthapanarthaya sambhavami yuge yuge
Bhagawan takes avatar in each and every yuga mainly to safeguard the bhaktas and then to destroy the rakshasaas who trouble his bhaktas. So Bhagawan comes to this bhoomi from paRamapadham just for the sake of his bhaktas. Hence we come to know that bhaktas are very important to the Lord. Whenever Bhagawan comes to rescue his bhaktas, the other fellow people also reap the benefits. Our guruji amma gives high respect to all the bhaktas. Hence our Vedhanaadham's every issue will be dedicated to one bhakta. This issue we are dedicating to one of the great eternal devotees of the Lord namely 'Haridas Thakur'

  • The great soul was a muslim vashinavite and an ardent follower of Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu
  • The great devotee  recited the maha mantra 3,00,000 times a day before consuming any food
  • The great soul converted a prostitute by constantly requesting her to wait till he completed chating and she became a devotee of Krishna named Haridasini
  • The great soul for whom Chaitanya himself did the last rites and declared him to a be a great devotee
  • The great saint who endured the beatings of the muslims and took it as a punishment of his ego on being a geat devotee of the Lord
Please check out Dhaasa Vedham to know about the pravachans and discourses being conducted by Guruji
