2. Mahatmas - New Bhaktacharitras Each Month

India is the holy land with so many bhaktas (devotees). When we go through the Indian history, there must be a bhakta in every period. That is the greatness of this sacred land. Bhaktas are the role model for all the bonded souls. They enjoy their life in a perfect way. Bhaktas surrender themselves to the Lotus feet of Lord. By hearing or reading bhaktas' divine story, the bonded soul is enlightened to come out of the worldwide bondages.

RadheKrishna! Sincere chanting and listening to the great stories of devotees will surely give a peace of mind to everybody, even in this 21st century. So many people think that listening to the devotee's stories is a waste of time and there is no benefit at all. If somebody wants to realize the power of bagawan, first of all they must listen bhaktha charithram [stories of devotees]. There are so many advantages in listening to baktha charithram.

Bharath is a very special land and contained within it are sacred places and rivers. Devotees born in this sacred Bharath ensure that they propagate bhakti in all corners of the country. This is the precise reason why the fragrance of bhakti can be felt all around our country. Our beloved Guruji has a special reverence for Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and in the coming issues, we will enjoy his bhakthi and the path of devoution that he had set an example for us to follow.

Gadhadhara cries out loudly as Advaithachariya is much elder to Nimayee and indicates that this act could bring sin. To that Advaithachariya replies that Nimayee is none other than Krishna and true devoutees will find this secret revealed to themselves. He also says that one day the whole of India will be behind this Nimayee and his true devoution and that Gadhadhara should not be fooled by Nimayee's pranks.

In due course Nimayee returns back to normalcy and catches the feet of Advaithacharya and cries for devoution towards Krishna. To that the elder Advaithacharya says to Nimayee to stop acting like those of everyone and to give him true devoution instead. If Krishna were to become our servant and listen to us then we should be one of Yasodha, Nandagopa or Balarama.

If you are in the position of Gopis, Periazhwar or Udhava then if Krishna were to fall at your feet then it will become intolerable. Advaithachariyar is in the state of being a slave of Krishna and hence the act of Nimayee falling at his feet become too much for him and he quietly left Navadeep and proceeded to Shanipuram without anyone's knowledge

RadheKrishna.Hinduism is an ancient religion. All the things that have been spoken in Hindu religion can be applied in practical life. Although in 21st century till everyone can apply this in his or her daily life. The aim of Hindu religion is to provide total happiness to everyone at all times (or any point of time). The essence of Hinduism is told in "Bhagawad Gita". In order to realize what is said in Bhagawad Gita it is a compulsory (must) to have an unconditional faith on Bhagawad Gita. So many people have benefited in their lives because of the (by reading) shlokas of Bhagawad Gita. In Bhagawad Gita, Bhagawan Shri Krishna has told the way to lead a happy life in such an easy way that even a normal layman can easily understand. The slokas are so simple that anyone can understand and use it practically. In the coming months we will enjoy the 12th Chapter of Gita and the devoution towards the Lord as explained by our  beloved Guruji.

Malakaran or a garland seller used to sell flowers and garlands for all occasions. But the Malakaran used to think that whatever be the purpose of selling, he would used to think that he was offering the flower to Krishna. Malakaran had never seen Krishna but only had heard about it from Gopis who used to come and sell milk and milk products. For this intense devoution, Krishna Himself paid a visit to his house and asked for a garland.

He then proceeds to decorate Krishna with beautiful garlands and Krishna in turn asks him to request a boon. The Malakaran prays for true devoution and Krishna granted him everything including knowledge, wisdom, devoution, riches and promised that his entire clan will be offered liberation.

There was no option but to make garlands and sell for him. Likewise everybody has to go to work and earn a living. If we begin do office work for us, for family and for money then troubles begin. But if we do the work for Krishna then we will get moksha or liberation.

Perumal Thirumozhi was as a result of Kulasekara azhwar longing to see and enjoy Lord Ranganatha. The Thirumozhi also results from the bhakthi of the azhwar towards Rama and Krishna and he begins with his longing for Lord Ranganatha. Everyone of us have so much of longing for the worldly affairs but the longing and the love for the Lord alone will help us achieve a good state.

Kulasekara azhwar enjoys Lord Ranganatha as Adisheshan in the first two pasurams or songs. Then he enjoys the Lord as enjoyed by Brahma. But the way Gopis enjoyed the Lord is considered to be supreme. This is because the not so intelligent Gopis were fully aware of the strengths of the Lord and believed that Krishna would save them. Of all the avatars,  Krishna avatar is considered to be the best and one that can easily be enjoyed. This was followed by Kulasekara azhwar enjoying how Narada and Tumburu enjoy the Lord. He continues further and sees how the devotees are enjoying the Lord and what items are safeguarding the Lord. Then the azhwar decides to mingle with the devotees and experience how it would be to be part of that group and enjoy the Lord.

Today we talk about donation of eyes and that is possible because the Lord is able to protect the eyes for up to six hours. Doctors  can operate, change eyes and connect the nerves but it is impossible without the blessings of Krishna to get the vision back after the transplant. Today we are able to donate blood to others allowing them to recover and this is only possible because of  the grace of Krishna. We must now understand the full power of Krishna and his abilities

The reason why I had explained all these at length is because we must lower ourselves and accept that everything is being driven by Krishna.

The pasuram continues next month..

5. Samarpanam
parithraanaaya sadhoonaam vinasaya cha dhushkrutham
dharma sansthapanarthaya sambhavami yuge yuge
Bhagawan takes avatar in each and every yuga mainly to safeguard the bhaktas and then to destroy the rakshasaas who trouble his bhaktas. So Bhagawan comes to this bhoomi from paRamapadham just for the sake of his bhaktas. Hence we come to know that bhaktas very important to the Lord. Whenever Bhagawan comes to rescue his bhaktas, the other fellow people also reap the benefits. Our guruji amma gives high respect to all the bhaktas. Hence our Vedhanaadham's every issue will be dedicated to one bhakta. This issue we are dedicating to one of the great eternal devotees of the Lord namely 'Kanopathra'

  • The great soul was born to a courtesan Shayama in Mangalvadhe but elevated herself by her devoution to Vittal
  • The great devotee who died at the feet of Vittal when she was asked to be a dancing girl for the mughal king
  • The great soul was a poet, and composed abhangs or devoutional songs on Vittal addressing Him as Narayana, Krishna, Manmadha
  • The great daughther who refused to  follow her mother's professional and is the only saint to be buried inside the Pandarphur temple per her wish
  • The great devotee was the only varkari saint not to be associated with any guru but attained he highest state by her true devoution
Enjoy some of her abhangs

If you call yourself the Lord of the fallen,
why do O Lord not lift me up?
When I say I am yours alone,
who is to blame but yourself
if I am taken by another man.
When a jackal takes the share of the lion,
it is the great, who is put to shame.
Kanhopatra says, I offer my body at your feet,
protect it, at least for your title

O Narayana, you call yourself
savior of the fallen...
My caste is impure
I lack loving faith
my nature and actions are vile.
Fallen Kanhopatra
offers herself to your feet,
a challenge
to your claims of mercy.
